During 2007-2008, FOCUS is pursuing the following advocacy goals:
Facilities
- Freeing up underutilized DCPS school buildings for charter school use
Local Funding
- Ensuring continuing facilities funding for charter schools
Federal Funding
- Working to ensure a smooth transition of the Office of Federal Grants Programs to the new Office of the State Superintendent of Education
- Improving the implementation of charter school startup funding and other entitlement programs
Chartering
- Advocating for the creation of a second chartering authority
Transparency
- Helping the State Education Office to develop a longitudinal data collection and dissemination system
